Debian OS Installation special case, step 5 - Configure network (Deprecated)
This article expands on nuances of network configuration during Debian (Linux) OS installation.
Special case Step 5 - Configure network
If your server has several network interfaces you may face and additional prompt
Step 5.1. Several network interfaces.
If your server setup has several network interfaces you will see this step.
The installer will pre-select the interface that is connected to a cable.
Simply click Continue
Step 5.2. Autoconfiguration has succeeded
You will see this prompt for a brief second if you have selected an interface that is properly set up in your LAN.
After this you will be back on the main scenario at Step 5. Provide your hostname
Step 5.1.1. Network autoconfiguration failed
You will see this prompt if you have selected an interface with no cable attached.

Please try another interface

If you have tried all interfaces - check your NIC ports

If the cable is attached check your switch settings
